Install AudioEye on a GoDaddy Site

AudioEye can only be installed on a GoDaddy site directly or with Website Builder version 6 or earlier

Intended Audience: GoDaddy Administrators

Unfortunately, as of version 7, GoDaddy has removed support for adding custom scripts to a website's header or footer using their Website Builder product without constraining them to an iframe. While GoDaddy's product provides users the ability to add a custom HTML code block, this code is inserted within an iframe and cannot interact with the content on the page.

You may be able to install AudioEye using the steps in this guide by using another GoDaddy product that allows edits to the website's source code or by using an earlier version (version 6 or earlier) of the GoDaddy Website Builder product.

Steps to add AudioEye to a GoDaddy site

Before beginning:

  1. Log in to the AudioEye Platform or visit AudioEye.com and use the Start Free Trial button at the top of the page to begin a 14-day free trial.
  2. In the Site settings menu, activate AudioEye installation.
  3. Select Install Directly from the Installation methods dropdown.
  4. Copy the AudioEye Site Code using the Copy code button.

Installation NOT using GoDaddy's Website Builder:

  1. Log in to GoDaddy.
  2. Open the editor for the site's footer.
  3. Paste the AudioEye Site Code at the end of the footer.
  4. Save the changes.

Installation using GoDaddy's Website Builder:

Unfortunately, GoDaddy Website Builder does not support site-wide custom scripts. To circumvent this limitation, AudioEye can be directly installed (one at a time) on every page where it should be installed.

  1. Log in to GoDaddy.
  2. Select a page under Site Navigation and add a custom HTML section.
  3. Click/activate the + button (which turns into + Add Section on hover). This opens a sidebar menu with options for section type.
  4. Select Files & Web to expand that folder of section types.
  5. Select HTML.
  6. Click/activate the Add button on the HTML section.
  7. Paste the AudioEye Site Code into the Custom Code box within the HTML section.
  8. Set the Forced Height to 1 pixel.
  9. Leave the Title input blank to avoid seeing unwanted text on the published page.
  10. Click/activate the Done button at the top of the HTML section.
  11. Click/activate Publish to save the changes.
  12. Repeat for each individual page to ensure AudioEye is installed on all pages of the website.

Verify Installation

  1. Navigate back to the Installation page on the AudioEye Platform.
  2. Activate the Verify Installation button.
  3. Locate the AudioEye Accessibility Help Desk button on the website.

Still having trouble?

  • Verify that the domain registered on the AudioEye Platform matches the domain of the site that AudioEye is being installed on.
  • Note that it may take up to 24 hours after users have visited the site for accessibility monitoring data to start populating on the AudioEye Platform.
  • Users with limited permissions may need to send installation instructions to an administrator. On the Installation page on the AudioEye Platform, activate the Send Instructions button to send instructions to an administrator’s email address.
  • Consider using a different installation method, such as installing AudioEye with Google Tag Manager.
  • If problems continue, please reach out to AudioEye support for installation help.
