Built on 15+ years of expertise, our Accessibility Score is a real-time indicator of how accessible your website experience is. As people visit your website, the score changes based on the number and severity of accessibility barriers that they encounter. When active, our automation technology will improve a website’s Accessibility Score by an average of 18 points or more. Our score is calculated using algorithms that factor in both the volume of issues on your site as well as the impact of those accessibility issues on end users. For example, if an issue on your website is just a minor inconvenience, but doesn't significantly impact how accessible the content is, it will not impact your Accessibility Score as much as a WCAG error that prevents or severely impairs access to certain content.
The volume of accessibility issues on your website is determined when our automation scans page content as your visitors access them. We scan most elements on your page, such as navigation elements like buttons, headings and links to determine if the element presents an accessibility issue. The more elements without accessibility issues, the higher your score will be and vice versa. Although not all issues can be detected through automation, our scanner detects the most accessibility issues and is continually being improved.
If you have a low Accessibility Score, it is an indication that there may be significant accessibility issues and/or a high frequency of issues that will impede users from being able to successfully interact with your site.
It's important to note that the Accessibility Score is not a directly representation of the number of errors still remaining on your site or a certification of a fully accessible site.
