Intended audience: Website owners, website visitors
What are personalization tools?
The AudioEye® Personalization Tools are a menu of settings that change the visual presentation of a webpage.
Who can benefit from personalization tools?
Any user can benefit from personalizing their browsing experience. Easily accessible personalization tools are especially useful for users experiencing temporary or situational disabilities or those who may not be aware of or know how to apply other customization strategies.
While the AudioEye personalization tools can help mitigate some accessibility issues, most users with disabilities use strategies such as adjusting their browser settings, implementing custom style sheets, and applying extensions to adjust all websites they visit.
AudioEye cautions that personalization tools do not make a website accessible for users with disabilities who access the site with assistive technologies. Assistive technologies require that the site include appropriate keyboard functionality, alternative text for non-text content, proper announcements of element roles and states, and consideration of many other potential issues at the code level that cannot be fixed with personalization tools. AudioEye’s technology automatically fixes many of these issues within the code in the browser and employs developers who specialize in accessibility to custom-code fixes.
Using personalization tools
To use personalization tools on a website that AudioEye is running on:
- Look for the AudioEye Accessibility Help Desk button on the web page. If the button is not visible, use the Accessibility link (generally found in the footer of the website) to activate the button from the Accessibility Statement.
- Click/activate the AudioEye Accessibility Help Desk button on the website.
- On the accessibility interface, click/activate the Personalization Tools tab.
- Click/activate the desired tool or combination of tools to change the page's presentation. Some tools can be clicked/activated multiple times to cycle through a series of options.
